Doug stared up at the Minior cameraman for a second, blinking in amazement at it... before snorting in amusement at his own thoughts.

"So this is why Devin's pencil pushin' now." The youth said dryly as Guirus approached, nestling its head against Doug's neck and drawing a laugh out of the youth.

"Oi oi, no time for that! What'cha think ya were warmin' up for?" He said as his arm snaked around its head, rubbing at its nape gently. "It's time to put Gym Leader Zac through the paces."

The youth grinned, and his dragon returned the gesture, spreading its wings wide before leaping back towards the makeshift arena, spinning in place to face its opponent. Once again, the Shark and the dragon faced off. This race before didn't matter- this was the real one.

But for the record, Guirus totally believed he won that one too.

The fight began with a flash of teeth and a burst of sand, Rocko's sharp movements whipping up a whiplash of sand that veiled its approach.

Thankfully, Guirus' eyes were evolved to see through ferocious sandstorms.

Without Doug's instruction, the smaller dragon flapped its wings and reeled back from the sandshark's ferocious bite, just barely missing its rows of teeth.

"Dragon Claw! And nice dodge!" Doug ordered amisdt compliments, swiping his arm dramatically across the air.

Guirus's claws flashed with a flurry of power as he took a warding swipe across the other pokemon's chest.

"No kidding?" Hollered Doug as he scrambled back, the massive rock that had just popped up from the sky, bearing down upon the arena, arms flapping wildly as he sprinted. "Never would've expected it from such n'adventurous man!"

Doug was being facetious, but he actually felt the sweat rolling down his neck as the heat of the descending projectile sunk the bloody desert further into unacceptable temperatures. Would he even be able to make it out of such a thing's shockwave radius on such short notice?!

Gazing between its trainer and the massive meteor, Guirus decided that no, he probably would not.

"Sorry 'bout this Guirus, but turn that bloody spear into a friggin bat!" Bellowed Doug over his shoulder as his hand was forced.

It wasn't an ideal move- but while Guirus might be able tank a meteor, Doug could not, and he really wasn't about to test his mathematical prowess trying to calculate how far he needed to run.

The Flygon's tensed as its blood pumped and flowed, a single flap of its wings launching it towards the sky like a missile.

It clashed soundly against the projectile, the bursting shockwave sending Doug sprawling onto the sand face first.

Tanking the heavy shockwave with its body, the Flygon attempted to seize the massive stone and brandish it as if it were weapon against the incomming Rocko, attempting to swing him out of the air.

Out of the Frying pan and into the fire. All things considered, the Flygon had a pretty good run.

Doug hissed as the improvised weaponry turned improvised explosive, Guirus having little time to reconsider his choices so far as the club burst in azure flames, and then exploded into a massive conflagration less than a second later. The shockwave whipped yet another large sand cloud that threatened to send Doug ass first into the sand.

"However much ya make out of these videos, I want my cut for this footage." Doug said while looking at the explosion, sweat rolling down his neck. 

A crispy looking Flygon broke through the large smokescreen the explosion had generated moments later, its rapidly falling body descending towards a less than cushy crash into the sand.

A red light managed to catch it just short of planting into the ground, a wry looking Doug sighing as he pocketed the netball.

"Thank Goodness, he's awright... Good job, Guirus. Don'cha worry, Rocko over there ain't lookin' too hot either after all that tango." Said the youth as he palmed his other netball, throwing it high in the air. "Yer foe's barely standing as is! Put the poor guy to sleep awready, Sidon!"

No time to think about things too hard; he could consider what could've been done to prevent this at another time. As things were, it was best to go at it before Zac or Rocko gathered their wits about themselves.

A Gliscor came soaring out of the ball, twirling and spinning about across the air to adjust its trajectory towards its target before flapping both of its pincers back, launching itself at high speed towards the dragon, fangs gleaming with cold ice as it went for the (proverbial?) neck.

Flygon used fainting. It Fainted.

Doug waved a palm in front of his face, clicking his tongue.

"There ain't no glory in a revenge kill, but thanks anyway! Rocko was a bloody tough fighter, and that bloody meteor caught us off guard. Guirus and I will have to train harder for the rematch."

Oh, there would be a rematch. Guirus would never take this defeat lying down. Er, after recovery, that is. He would be lying down for quite a while after getting blown up.

"Sidon!" Said Doug, cupping his hands around his mouth as he shouted. "Warm up proper 'fore Theo realizes he's in a fight!"

Doug grinned at Zac, winking.

"Gotta milk any advantage we can, right?" He said, before grabbing his chin in thought, brow creasing slightly. "Uh oh. Guirus was actually much better equipped for such things than Sidon... Oh well, I'll just have to think of something!"

The Maractus managed to forced itself into full alertness through it's accupressure move- and it even made itself more dangerous in the process, too! Bloody heck!

"But a chance to ace the test is a chance all the same! Sidon! Show 'em all why Scorpions are the devils of the desert! Into the Sand ya go!"

A roaring storm of petals came flying towards the Gliscor, and it was with wide, panicked eyes that it flapped its pincers and dove down like a hawk towards the sand.

At the last second it spread its arms wide, soared just over the sand, kicking up walls of dust with each tilt of its body and flap of its wings.

The cloud of petals and the wall of dust crashed together, with the Gliscor seemingly lost in the ensuing storm. Unless someone payed close attention to the top of the sand cloud-

"AND THEN COMIN' OUTTA NOWHERE!" Doug announced as he grabbed and shook Zac's arm excitedly with one hand while holding an invicible mic with the other.

A swiftly approaching bled over the sand as it beelined it for the Maractus, slowly becoming larger and larger-

"Over the cover of the dust walls the scorpions descend! ITS ACROBATICS ARE OUTTA THIS WORLD!"

The Gliscor reared back its claw as it neared, attempting to ram the Maractus-!

"Woah NELLY! He's spankin' brand new! Thorny Theo's healin' is off the charts!" Doug screeched into Zac's fist, shaking it excitedly. "Slateport's Scorpion is in trouble now!"

The Gliscor snapped a glare at both commentators, raising a pincer in an attempt at flipping them off before yelping as he ducked under a barrage of spikes, scrambling back across the sand on stumpy legs.

"Oi, Slateport's Scorpion, you are on camera, look lively!" Said Doug over Zac's fist.

No, really, if Sidon could, he would have flipped them both off- AND stung them. He didn't need commentary, he needed orders from his so called trainer!

He stared furiously at Doug while strafing around Theo over a large distance, gasping for breath, his stubby legs not meant for actually running.

"... Oh right!" Doug said, letting go of Zac's wrist and massive man's shoulders, his feet touching the ground as he cupped his hands around his mouth. "Oi, Sidon! Tall dune at your 3! Strong wind to starboard!"

Quickly switching gears, the scorpion sprinted over in the general direction directed by his trainer, and eventually found the dune- leaping off it for cover before spreading his wings wide to catch a ride in the wind.

From Theo's stationary perspective, it probably looked like the scorpion had disappeared under the horizon.

Meanwhile, besides Zac, Doug sighed, scratching at the back of his head.

"I really should've taught 'im Dig 'fore comin' here." He said, crossing his arms under over his chest.

Meanwhile, Sidon skirted through the air, low and near the sand floor, attempting to mask his swift approach to the plant.

Neon green light crackled around his arm as his opponent grew near, before he took a swift, passing swipe at Theo!

"Wait for wha- OH, THE POKEMONITY!" Doug screeched into the imaginary mic as Theo quite literally exploded on contact into a torrential of roses and spikes. "I know how he's getting out awright! He aint'!"

Horror filled Sidon's features as he reflexively attempted to aileron roll to avoid the explosion. It got several needles sticking up its ass, wings and tail anyway.

But hey, at least it had managed to just barely miss the petals, even as it crash landed upon the sand, reflexively using it to cushion his fall... by face planting upon it.

Well, at least it wasn't on his ass, right?

"No style points there, but whatever works!" Said Doug, before dramatically throwing away the nonexistent mic. "But that's enough of that! It's time for Slateport's Scorpion's counterattack!"

With a growl, Sidon pushed off the sand powerfully with his pincer fists, acrobatically spinning across the air towards Theo before spreading his wings wide, sharply stopping his momentum just atop the Maractus- and sending his tail hurtling towards the back of his head due to the snap!

"Dunno 'bout all that, but we'll be here all day if we let it go on like this!" Doug said, shouting at Sidon.

The Scorpion panted as it twisted its body acrobatically as Theo retaliated with pin needle, by now sorta used to its timing sweeping around towards the area of the cactus pokemon that were no longer covered in those spikes.

"He's got a tough shield on'im, but there ain't no choice but to buckle down and bring 'im down!" Doug said, sweeping his arm dramatically. "Cut right through it, Sidon!"

The Scorpion's pincer shone green as he swung his arm wide to Theo, short bursts of breath coming out of it as it prepared for a slugging match.
